Well I'm not one to be speaking about ethics (I've got the ethical equivalent of a sea cucumber) but things like this tend to freak me out. Seems a bit wrong, and the only reason we're getting away with it is because the birds cant fend for them selfs.
Well since the office laptop is always with me (now that I don't really have a pc) I tried to reset the router modem (given to me by the ISP) so I wouldn't need to keep changing ip addresses (the home network and office ones have different segments).
What happened was that: A. I forgot my router modem's password and had to reset it. B. As the router modem was reset, I couldn't get it to reconnect to the internet.
Tried calling the ISP but they gave me some BS about not really knowing about the router settings and all they could do was ask me to switch it on and off and whatnot.
Well I FIXED IT. After a day of tweaking with PPoE Over LLC and whatnot.
Just an update for Hurk who's the only one monitoring my PC status (home PC). Due to a power outage and short, the store has called me up and told me that the items below are shot:
list of stuff that's dead: 1. processor p4 HT 2. Mobo 3. PSU 4. RAM 5. Video graphics card 128mb
:( I'm now left with a black box, 3 dvd drives and a HDD (maybe)
Well I've got this movie stuck in my head and I cant get it out, worst even, I don't even remember the name of the movie so I cant hunt it down.
All I remember is that the movie was a Sci-Fi movie, it had elements like from Aliens (the planet was always dark and cloudy etc), and the main movie revolved around a planet with a base. And in this base was a bunch of pilots and their RIO's (Radar Intercept Officer) / assistants and they flew what (if I remember right) chopped up apache helicopters (but were actually planes) and the RIO's had to assist the pilots from the base. The hero had a RIO that was this huge drug addict and he had a bowl filled with pills of all colour. The movie was also out around Aliens so its a 1980's thing.
Well I caught the movie 'Blood and Chocolate' and I'd first like to say, wth, cant they come up with something that makes sense for a movie's title?
Now on to the movie!
It was ok, but you get the feel that the movie wasn't sure what genre it was, and got confused half way. Was it a horror movie? An action movie, or even a love interest?
Well I'm back home in Malaysia, and chilling away enjoying the fact I no longer need to divide by ten any prices I see.
I've uploaded pictures from the digital camera, and here they are for you to enjoy. I will also be uploading pictures from my phone camera to the phone image blog on and off throughout the week, so watch for it!
Well I've moved all my blogger accounts to the new blogger (used to be blogger beta) and I realised had a few extra accounts that I've never used, so will look into that soon then.
Been busy hunting for a house and we've seen one that seems to be pretty good, hope we work that out and get it before the year end. Fingers crossed!
Well things are going a bit slow on the blogging bit due to the sum of work I need to get out of the way before my trip to Thailand next week.
Also need to speed up my repairs on the home PC (after that small explosion a few months back, I'm a lazy sod) so that I can fire up America's Army and the other normal stuff I do online instead of constantly dragging the laptop home and back.
On top of that, haven't had a chance to blue tooth in new photo's from the cellphone to the photo blog, will work on that as well over the weekend.
Yes, the greetings comes with a '!' now, so mind your step! (woah slipped another ! in there) As usual, I was browsing around, which is hard as it is, with the network traffic here in Asia pretty messed up still, and came across this pretty funny webcomic.
Hope everyone enjoys, and try to have a safe post New Year's week!
Well guys and girls, its Christmas (well its almost over for me) and I'm lazy and tired. I must say I had a good day yesterday, and work isnt going to be a flood as there's a few more holidays coming, so I think it should be good.
So I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays) and have a great New Year!
Well it was a weird day yesterday, but I had some frog at the Chinese restaurant. I wont go on and say that 'it tasted like chicken', mainly because it didn't. It was more of a prawn / shrimp taste with tender flesh.
Well its 9.20am (Malaysia) and I cant seem to log on to the Google webpage. Its weird, I've grown so used to just typing stuff into the search bar (by default mine has Google) and waiting for amazing answers. No such luck today. Wonder whats up with that then. Oddly, Blogger is still up, so thats a good thing.
Dav out
[EDIT] Well it seems to be something to do with the DNS, because the IP 216.239.37.99 and 64.233.167.99 works fine for me. Google, fix the DNS darn it!
A great friend of mine from Sweden (Hurk) has just started his own blog. To put it in his own words, "I've started a blog 10 years after it was fashionable to do so" (ok ok so he might have said it a bit diffrently!)
Pressed the power button on the PC, saw a flash and heard a pop, PC dead. AVR unit's fuse melted, got a replacement and that works fine now. Haven't had the time to look at the PC yet.
Well a friend of a friend is offering me a Nokia N70, and seeing as how my older Nokia DIED, I might take it. Would be a great way of getting more pictures on to the blog too.
Super fun, the band was pretty cool too. Below is the extract from the feast

[ Pwyff ] So one day, George Bush and The Queen of England are sitting in her room talking about politics, when Bush asks the Queen, "How do you know if the highest members of your state are smart enough to be doing their job?" [ Pwyff ] And the Queen replies, "Well, I usually ask them riddles, and see how fast they respond. That's usually a good way to see if they can think for themselves." [ Pwyff ] So the Queen calls Tony Blair in, and asks him, "If your Parents had a child, but it's not your sister, and it's not your brother, who is it?" [ Pwyff ] And Tony Blair immediately replies, "That's easy, it's me!" [ Pwyff ] And the Queen, who is very pleased, send Tony Blair away. [ Pwyff ] Now, Bush, who is very impressed, brings the Queen to find Donald Rumsfield and asks him, "Hey Donald, if your parents had a kid, but it's not your sister, and it's not your brother, who is it?" [ Pwyff ] And Rumsfield ponders for a long time, and then admits to Bush that he has no clue. [ Pwyff ] Pissed off, Bush drags Rumsfield and the Queen to Dick Cheney, where Bush asks Cheney, "Hey Dick, if your parents had a kid, but it's not your sister or your brother, who is it?" [ Pwyff ] And Cheney ponders for a long time, and then he finally lights up with an idea, and says "It's me!" [ Pwyff ] And Bush gets REALLY pissed off, and yells at both of them, "NO YOU IDIOTS! IT'S TONY BLAIR!"
Well its been a rough week. More like a rough month. From work based issues to house hunting, to just being tired in general.
2 days ago my home PC died. It got caught up in an infinate reboot loop, and it didnt want to even boot up in safe mode (XP Pro) and it would just hang at this one driver and reboot over and over. A quick check from work showed it to be something that Alcohol 120% installed, and truth to be told the guys at Alcohol 120% (support) got back to me via email pretty quick. Sadly, no go.
Had to reboot the pc with an XP CD, best part was, I DID NOT KNOW where I had chucked the damn thing. A CD I borrowed from work (hastily, I was rushing for work) turned out to be XP OFFICE Pro. FFS.
Ended up downloading the entire CD, took me till Sunday evening, even then couldnt reboot and repair the OS Partition, XP recovery didnt even have the database insatlled to do the repair (maybe corrupted) and hence it didnt want to boot me and ask for my admin password. It didnt even see the partition as [NTFS] just [UNKNOWN] which basicly left me with the only option of formating and starting from scratch. Lost my files. Lost my downloads. Lost some movies. Lost alot of games and almost 20 hours sunk into Dungeon Siege 2.
After 3 hours or so of application installs, setups, and configurations, now it seems, that the Realtek AC3 97 audio driver doesnt want to work, and it doesnt even want to uninstall. No audio. Tired. Hate someone. Something. Nevermind
Dav out
[EDIT] Dropped my old Nokia 8250, it doesnt power on now, using a backup Sony Ericsson T230. Hate it. Cant figure out anything. Bah
Wildfolk says: I got an email from a friend after telling him that Mum was upset about me joining in a combat role..
Dav@Werk says: k
Dav@Werk says: well your mum loves yous
Wildfolk says: "Tell your mum that everyone dies and you're going to learn how to best delay they with heavy weapons and being surrounded by 8 guys also keen on not dying today and not letting anyone else die either - also trained and heavily armed"
Well the BOSS bought me a new sweet ACER LCD Monitor, that baby is running nicely at 1280 x 1024 (its 17'). Its making me want an LCD monitor for my home, since I can clearly see the amount of desk real-estate that I've saved up.
The new office desk space with the Acer LCD monitor

So yeah, house-hunting really sucks. After a couple of months, its down to this: A. Buy a house that's RM260K - RM310K in an area thats FAR out of the city. B. Buy a second-hand (used) house for like RM210K - RM250K (which is in and around the city) but then spend another RM40K - RM80K for renovations
Looks like Josh is on the blogging bandwagon, you can read his insightfull posts here. Its still new blog, so he's going to need you guys to help comment away (ie: spam)
Greetings, Been super busy at work, but that has not stopped me from bothering people on MSN! Hence, the postcard pics below. Aleš was nice enough to send it over.
It looks like everyone's jumping on the "Web Beta" service idea these days, with Gmail starting it off and Hotmail with their 'Outlook' like layout.
Yahoo! has come out with a nifty version of Beta Mail, and the screeny below shows you how it looks like. I've used Yahoo! for ages, and I'm quite happy with the generous amount of email space they provide. The spam does get to be a bother, but thats to expect with an email account thats been in use for as long as I have.
Well work's slowed down for a few days, and it lets me clean up the stuff thats loaded on the office laptop.
Its got to a stage at the pc where I lift my mug and find that there's no more tea in it, then 2 minutes later I lift my mug again and there's STILL no tea in it. 'orible! Mossy says I need an underling.
Then I open up the run consol and type in 'calc' when I wanted to pull up the command screen (cmd). Cursing, I close the calcultor, then type in 'calc' AGAIN!.
Well its been one hell of a month, and yesterday was pretty rough. A quick breakdown of what went on:
7.30am Azzy comes over because she has a warning light on her car dash 8.15am Service center opens, I talk to the manager and highlight the issues, and tell him it could be the throttle body. He hooks it up to the computer and does a systems check 9.30am All good, head off to work 3.20pm Azzy calls, says mom has emergency appendix op 7.40pm Azzy's car dies in traffic. Throttle BODY! 8.10pm I get there. So does AAM 9.00pm They do what they can. The problem is the car starts up fine, and they cant seem to figure out what was wrong with it when it stalled 9.20pm Drop by to see her mom in the hospital 9.40pm Dinner 11.00pm Hoem
Well we caught the movie yesterday, and even after reading about it in the papers (the papers gave it a B-! ) I was still intrested in watching it, since it had Heath Ledger as Casanova (I thought he was pretty cool since I watched 10 Things I Hate About You, and then A Knight's Tale) The movie was good, I think the chemistry between Heath and Sienna Miller was a tad lacking, but overall the 'fun-ness factor' of the whole movie was pretty high.
1. Thank you. We're all refreshed and challenged by your unique point of view. 2. The fact that no one understands you doesn't mean you're an artist. 3. I don't know what your problem is, but I'll bet it's hard to pronounce. 4. Any connection between your reality and mine is purely coincidental. 5. I have plenty of talent and vision. I just don't care. 6. I like you. You remind me of when I was young and stupid. 7. What am I? Flypaper for freaks!? 8. I'm not being rude. You're just insignificant. 9. I'm already visualizing the duct tape over your mouth. 10. I will always cherish the initial misconceptions I had about you. 11. It's a thankless job, but I've got a lot of Karma to burn off. 12. Yes, I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial. Would you like my card? 13. No, my powers can only be used for good. 14. How about never? Is never good for you? 15. I'm really easy to get along with once you people learn to worship me. 16. You sound reasonable. Time to up my medication. 17. I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter. 18. I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message . 19. I don't work here. I'm a consultant. 20. Who me? I just wander from room to room. 21. My toys! My toys! I can't do this job without my toys! 22. It might look like I'm doing nothing, but at the cellular level I'm really quite busy. 23. At least I have a positive attitude about my destructive habits. 24. You are validating my inherent mistrust of strangers. 25. I see you've set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public. 26. Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously, and change the subject.
I was just poking around the Internet when I came across this pretty sweet site (SF Reviews) I think this site gives people a great chance to actually read reviews on a book before getting it. I think its amazing stuff.
I was filling up on some petrol at a local petrol station when I noticed a sign above the petrol pump that read something like this : "Our frequent replenishment cycles ensure you the freshest fuel available at all times"
I've never heard of fresh petrol. Its already almost a million years old in the first place.
This Monday SUCKED. I woke up as my phone alarm went off, and I thought to myself 'WHY the heck did I put an alarm at 7am on a SUNDAY?" Ticked off, I curled up back to bed, only to be awakened by the national anthem being played at the primary school near my home.
Well I went out and picked up some games for the holidays (all 3 days of them) and I was mainly looking for something new to play, besides America's Army(AA) that was getting a tad ..um.. 'dry'. Also, I'm downloading, lets call it 'stuff' and I cant download and play AA online at the same time. So offline games it is. I picked up Battlefield 2 (BF2), Project : Snowblind (P:Sd) and Call Of Duty 2 (Cod 2)
Now downt get me wrong, I didnt just go to the store and pick stuff out at random, ohhhh no. I went online, and spent like 20 minutes looking around for fun games (this list were mainly FPS's, but hey, its fun.
Here's a breakdown on how much I liked (or disliked) the 3 games.
Battlefield 2 This game is slick. I've never played BF 1942, but I bet that game was slick too. The problem was, there's nothing really there for the single person maps (I knew the game was more of an Online thing, but I was hoping for something more, like Star Wars Battlegrounds, where there are small storylines joining each level map together. Not very happy with this :(
Pro's: - Its a FPS. - Clean, clear and crisp graphics.
Con's: - No real single player game here - Seems a little lost joining the single player maps together. - Its JUST a FPS.
Project: Snowblind MAN was I wrong on this one. I surfed on to the game webpage, and I thought to myself "Woah, this game looks sweet. LOADS of weapons!" I dont like the cluttred way the inventory is managed, I find myself tossing sheilds and stuff instead of frag gernades and its a general pain. Next would be the light washed out feel to the graphics. I keep thinking of Republic Commando and its bright and crisp graphics, and this doesnt hold a candle to the game. Of course there's nice rain effects, good shrapnel effects and stuff, but its controls and the general game wasnt all that tight. Thats right, I said TIGHT.
Pro's: - Plenty of stuff to blow up and kill - Loads of guns and weapons and stuff (YAY stuff) - Some interaction with objects and stuff that keeps it from JUST being a FPS.
Con's: - Clunky interface and messy inventory. - Loads of guns and weapons and stuff (NO yay stuff!) - Messy way of hunting for a 'save room' to save the game. - Enemy not clearly defined, and in the washed out graphics, you never can tell where they are.
Call Of Duty 2 NOW THIS IS A GAME. I've played it for 4 hours straight and I didnt want to stop (but I had to, damn DINNER!). Its smooth, slick, and well presented. The graphics are nice, the audio is amazing, the effects are sweet. The controls are tight (yeah I said it again) I am very very pleased with this game, and the amazing part is that the game takes care of the saves as I progress along the game, and I dont even need to blink.
Well I would just like to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. I bought over 30 Christmas/Happy Holiday cards but due to my work, and the fact I never had the time, I did NOT get a chance to mail them out. I know, I know, I sux0rs.
Well Kat and her crew came over and by now they're back home safe and sound (I hope). I tried to be a good host and show them around Kuala Lumpur, and below is one pic they took that I thought was pretty sweet.
Finnaly got v1.5 (been on 1.0.7 and didnt notice that the damn thing wasnt updating!) and this version seems to have some cool extensions. Below is my fav extension for now. Enjoy.
Today was the first day I’ve seen the sun in 4 days. It’s rained like 12 hours yesterday (not steady heavy rain, just drizzle rain) and it sucks. Well here’s to hoping for a warm day!
On a different note, I have no IRL friends, and I like it that way!
I saw this post on the BBC site, and I was amazed. Not amazed that Malaysia is highlighted as a producer of pirated CD's its mostly why other countries weren't highlighted as well. I'm sure there are OTHER places pumping out pirated cd's too. Maybe we should just torrent em out?
Yes, I live to tell the tale! It was a pretty cool night, with loads of free flowing ...uh... stuff. The local was amazing, and since I've been there before, it was even cooler :D (if there is such a word). The night was a lucky night at that, because I won an IBM laptop bag (sling style), my boss got a 3 mast ship model and one manager got a Creative mp3 player. (i wanted that!)
A polaroid taken at the party
As you can see in the picture above, I was pretty amazed I still look sober ;)
1. Word verification for Blogger Teh sweetness. If you're fed up of stupid automated comments that show up on your blog, this is the tool thats going to help solve it. Dont get me wrong, I loved getting comments, but when they were starting to be fake ego-strokers (have you seen these spam comments??) it gets to be a pain.
2. Teh funny flash. Dont get me wrong, I TEH HATE flash. But now and again someone comes up with something fun, and its worth a look. Enjoy!
I was having a slight flu, and we were about to meet a person who dropped by the office. All of a sudden I felt like sneezing, and I did so in my cupped hands. Taking my hands away from my face/mouth, I found them covered in mucus. More like chunky clear uh.. chunks I had sneezed all over my palms.
All of a sudden, the boss calls me over so he can introduce me to the person I was supposed to meet. I mumbled an excuse and ran off to the washroom to get my hands clean.
Well I've been holding on to my older laptop for a while now, even when I have a new-ish Centrino laptop provided by the office. The main reason was that I had to do a format of the new laptop's hdd, and I couldnt get the audio drivers to work. I use my machine for alot of things, and MP3's are really helpfull when you're doing a project implementation over a course of 3 weeks. The evenings are rough, and some music helps make it better.
Now I'm stuck with the super huge task of moving all my files and data to the new machine.
I took a day off and caught 2 movies with the better half, and both movies were not really up to mark. Movie 1 wasnt THAT bad, but Movie 2... do NOT watch Movie 2, if you value your time or your sanity. Really. That bad. Crap. I have no IDEA what made her act in the movie anyway. The only saving grace was this guy in Movie 2.
Bah.
Dav out
[Edit] Movie 1 = The Skeleton Key Movie 2 = Flightplan
Feeling a tad burnt out, and thanks to Tanda, I've come across this crazy site, and the image here shows what happens when you've had a bit too much work.

Edit: I think the $ sign is a nice touch, dont you think?
The next time the issue of data migration comes up, I shall remmeber this:
[Anirion] The common data (datum familiarus) migrates south each year when supplies of bugs get scarce. You can attract data to your yard with a clean birdbath and feeder. They nest from April to May.
Well I came across this bit of news and I just wonder, how many people out there can safely say that they are 100% sure of their actions, even more so with the actions of their country. I'm not saying we're right here, nor am I saying that these other countries are wrong.
This is nicely said in a paragraph, shown below.
"We don't believe his views represent those of the Malaysian government and we therefore do not think that they will affect our good relations with the Malaysian government."
Sorry for not posting much (to all 2 people that read this blog anyway) but work has kept me away.
Anyway.
I wake up today and get ready for work, and I notice that my bike has a puncture on the front tyre. So I guess I'm taking dad's bike to work. A few words about dad's bike. Its the basic bike, sort of like mine (its a cup bike, nothing fancy) but the right rear view mirror is cracked, and its cracked so that the mirror is sliglty curved, making the fragments show objects 50% larger then they are. Dad doesnt have a left rear view mirror. SO I cant quite make out objects on my 5 o'clock, and I cant see anything on my 7 o'clock. Much fun. I'm so used to looking at these mirrors that I can barely ride the bike to work, and at one point I was thinking that this ride sure was Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo-ed up.
His brakes stick, and he doesnt have a gear LED indicator. Why, in god's name is this bike not in the junkyard? I'll have a word with dad as soon as he gets back from the UK next week.
Well I got tired of the weird spam that starts out looking like a real comment then launches off trying to sell you a time share condo in some god forsaken place, so as of now, the blog comments is for registered users only (not like its going to affect anything, I dont get many comments anyway)
Next updates would be a pic of my room with the new bed (and a funky bed cover mom gave me) as well as a shot of me with my new short haircut :D
1. Haze *thank you people that burn forests* 2. Move furniture in room 3. Help cousins get laptops 4. ALMOST KILL one cousin due to the laptop issue 5. Got a new bed as well as an extra bookcase 6. Move more furniture around in room 8. Work work 9. Brains melty....
Well its official, my spam has crossed over into madness. I now get spam IN MY BLOG COMMENTS. Its weird, but its true, check it out (look at the comment area).
Well I had some extra time on my hands over the weekend (at around 2 am or so) and I finished up a fan mod I was planning for a while. Why did I create a fan mod? Because my video card was overheating after a couple hours of Painkiller (like 6 hours into the game the screen gets a tinge of purple) and because I COULD! :D
Risking making this a photoblog, below are some of the pics I took (there are more, but thats on a diffrent site)
Bits of the mod on the floor before I start
The 'box' body unit finished with the fan next to it
